New National Board Members Elected

The Texas Tech Alumni Association National Board of Directors elected three new members to the board. Michelle Bleiberg, Nancy Birdwell and Paul Foster began serving their 3-year term in January.

“Our board members have a heart for service and a passion for Texas Tech,” said Bill Benton, president of the TTAA National Board of Directors. “Michelle, Nancy and Paul all possess these qualities and will be outstanding board members. We look forward to their leadership, vision and the unique perspectives they will bring to our board.”

Dr. Bill Dean, executive director of the TTAA, said the new board members will be an asset to the board.

“These individuals are going to do exceptional work for the alumni association,” Dean said. “It’s fantastic to have them on our board and we look forward to the work ahead.”

Michelle Bleiberg, ’89, Dallas

Michelle Bleiberg is a director of public affairs in the Dallas office of Burson-Marsteller. She is the U.S. day-to-day client lead for Reliant Energy, the State of Texas Voter Education Program (HAVA) and provides media relations and counsel to Shell Oil Company.

Prior to joining Burson-Marsteller, Bleiberg was the director of public relations for the Dallas Museum of Art. She also worked at Read-Poland Associates, Publicis Public Relations and Ackermann PR and Marketing. Bleiberg also served as director of public relations and event marketing for ABC Radio Networks and as corporate communications manager for Tenet Healthcare Corporation.

Bleiberg received a bachelor of arts in public relations from Texas Tech University and is an Outstanding Alumna in the College of Media & Communication.

Nancy L. Birdwell, ’74, Salado

Nancy L. Birdwell serves as the executive vice president and chief executive officer for the Scott & White Healthcare Foundation and the chief development officer for Scott & White Healthcare.

Prior to joining Scott & White, Birdwell was the vice-president for development at Alliant International University in San Diego, Calif. She also served as assistant vice-president for Institutional Advancement at Texas Tech University and Health Sciences Center in Lubbock and was the director of corporate and foundation relations for the University of Texas at Austin. She is an honoree of the International Who’s Who of Professional and Business Women, and was awarded the 2012 Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of Central Texas and the 2012 Gerry Gunnin Professional Achievement Award given by the Association of HealthCare Philanthropy Rockies and Southwest Regions.

A graduate of the College of Media & Communication, her degree is in advertising and public relations. Birdwell has two daughters.

Paul W. Foster, ’80, San Antonio

Paul W. Foster graduated from Texas Tech University in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in architecture. He is the president and CEO of Foster CM Group, Inc., a program and construction management firm headquartered in San Antonio with offices in Dallas, Austin, Houston, Atlanta, Tulsa and Oklahoma City. He has also served on the Texas Tech University Architectural Alumni Association board.
