In order to give Texas Tech a higher visibility with elected officials, the Texas Tech Alumni Association co-sponsors a Texas Tech Day on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., each year, and a Texas Tech Day in Austin every other year (odd-numbered years) when the state legislature is in session.

A delegation from the campus travels to these events and alumni in the two locations are also invited to participate. During these celebrations, the Texas Tech message is shared along with the needs of the university. The purpose is to help increase the funding provided to Texas Tech from these legislative bodies.
