The expansion project to nearly double the meeting space in Merket Alumni Center officially broke ground on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, during a Hot Dogs & Hard Hats event in the parking lot of the facility at 17th & University in Lubbock.

Every semester, the Student Alumni Association Board of Directors and the Alumni Association host the Official Ring Ceremony at the Merket Alumni Center.

The $4 million capital campaign to double the meeting space in the Texas Tech Alumni Association Merket Alumni Center received a major boost Feb. 10, 2009, when a $500,000 donation by Michael "Mickey" and Barbara Esslinger McKenzie of Sulphur Springs was announced by Mark Griffin, member of the Texas Tech University Board of Regents.

The Texas Tech Alumni Association is "Building on Tradition." The Alumni Association is asking all friends of Peggy and Bill Dean and Texas Tech University to be a part of the $4 million Building on Tradition Capital Campaign. Your financial support will enhance this magnificent gathering place and honor two of this institution's best friends.

The Pre-Lighting Festival allows attendees of the Carol of Lights to arrive early and not only get a good parking space, but to enjoy a warm beverage while listening to Christmas music and be surrounded by the comforts of the holiday season. Santa was present to take pictures and the pre-lighting festival served as a drop off point for Toys for Tots.

The Texas Tech Alumni Association has teamed up with the new Overton Hotel & Conference Center to provide alumni with a home hotel for Red Raider football games.

ESPN Gameday broadcasted live from the Tech campus on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 before the game against the University of Texas.

Dinner With 10 Red Raiders is a Student Alumni Association event. This program allows alumni and students to come together for an evening of good food and conversation. It is a unique networking opportunity that is always enjoyed by hosts and attendees alike.
