Written by Jennifer Ritz
Here's something to smile about! David McCarley, D.D.S., a dentist in McKinney, Texas, has been nominated by the 4th District Dental Society for the Texas Academy of General Dentistry's Dentist of the Year Award. The Dentist of the Year Award is the highest honor a Texas dentist can receive. McCarley is one of only 15 dentists nominated for this year's award.
McCarley, who has practiced dentistry for almost 30 years, received his bachelor of science in microbiology from the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas Tech in 1975. He graduated in 1981 from the Baylor College of Dentistry. He is a member of the Texas Academy of General Dentistry, the Texas Dental Association, the American College of Dentists and the 4th District of the Texas Dental Association. He currently serves as parliamentarian for the Texas Dental Association. He has been recognized five times by Texas Monthly Magazine as a "Super Dentist" in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011.
Philanthropy is important to McCarley, who serves as a volunteer dentist with Give Kids a Smile, Donated Dental Services and the Lost Boys of Sudan. He and his wife, Lee Ann, have five children and four grandchildren.
