According to a statement issued by the University of Alabama System’s board of trustees, Guy Bailey, Ph.D., has been named president of the University of Alabama. The appointment will be effective in early September.
Under Bailey’s leadership, Texas Tech University has reached many milestones in enrollment, research and academics, not the least of which is meeting the criteria for the state's National Research University Fund (NRUF). The Texas Tech Alumni Association looks forward to continuing to build on this solid foundation of success with a new president.
The Alumni Association offers its gratitude and congratulations to Bailey as he transitions into his new role at his alma mater, which is one of the finest institutions in the country.
“I am sorry to see Dr. Bailey leave, but Alabama is his alma mater and a very outstanding university. He deserves a great deal of credit for Texas Tech's designation by the Coordinating Board as a National Research University. He also was a very strong supporter of the Texas Tech Alumni Association. We will miss him but wish him great success in his new position,” said Bill Dean, executive vice president and CEO.
